CRISFIELD – The Crisfield
Kiwanis Club has teamed up with Carter G. Woodson Elementary School to
reward students who bring up their grades by sponsoring the BUGS Program
(Bring Up Grades). One hundred twenty-nine students in grades 1-5 were
recently rewarded for improving their grades from the first marking
period. Each student received a certificate and a pencil.
Kiwanian Jack Morgan,
chairman of the BUGS Committee, who was instrumental in bringing the
program to Woodson Elementary, saw this as another opportunity to
provide incentives to students to strive to do better in school. This
program rewards students who otherwise, may never get recognized because
it is for every student who raises their grade even if they are very low
to start. BUGS awards are given beginning with the second marking
period as the first marking period grades are used as the baseline.
